A TALENTED young vet who made an impression on many has died from cancer - just weeks after giving birth.
Polly Birch, 32, who worked at The Brambles Vet Surgery practice in Churchdown, Gloucestershire, battled the illness for the last few weeks of her maternity leave.
Tributes from devastated colleagues and local pet owners have been flooding in for the "special person" who leaves behind a husband and a daughter.
Neil Savill, owner of the surgery said she was known for being "kind, caring and talented"
He added: "She showed us all those attributes over her years at the practice, her dedication, consideration and concern for the animals under her care was exemplary.
"We were all privileged to have her as a colleague and friend and she was a great support to many both inside and outside work.
"The brave and dignified way that she dealt with her illness is an inspiration to us all. We extend our deepest sympathies to her husband and young daughter.
"RIP Polly and thank you for everything you gave us both professionally and personally, we are all better for having known you."

Polly who lived near Stroud, was treated for the illness at Cheltenham General Hospital Oncology Unit.
The caring vet who grew up in Oxfordshire has broken the hearts of many who have been left "shocked and devastated by the news".
