A TEENAGER has died after diving off a waterfall at a North Yorkshire beauty spot to cool off in the Bank Holiday heatwave.
The 19-year-old was one of four pals who went swimming in the Yorkshire Dales at a site where water flows over a 10ft cliff into a plunge pool below.
Onlookers called 999 after the group got into trouble and rescuers were scrambled to the scene at the Wain Wath waterfall, on the River Swale, near Keld, at about 5pm on Friday.
The four terrified friends were pulled from the water by 999 crews including firefighters and mountain rescue teams.
The tragedy happened just 24 hours after Prince William tried to rescue Robbie Lea, 17, who drowned while swimming in a lake in Hertfordshire.
