THE swimming pool that inspired the name for band Oasis will not live forever.
Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon will simply slide away once the current lockdown measures are lifted on December 3.

The operator of the site, which includes a gym and concert hall, is handing back the lease as it is “losing money while accruing significant rent liabilities”.
The Slide Away stars adopted the name when Liam Gallagher saw the venue on a poster for the band Inspiral Carpets hanging in the bedroom he shared with older brother Noel.
They changed from being called Rain to Oasis — and went on to sell 75million records worldwide.
Twenty years later in 2011, Liam, 48, performed there with his band, Beady Eye.
But leisure operator GLL says: “The closure for over five months due to lockdowns, coupled with reduced capacity, created challenging conditions.”

GLL's regional director for Swindon Jamie Coleshill said: "We recognise the significant impact the closure of the Oasis will have on our customers - particularly the loss of the unique, albeit very tired, leisure pools.
"Closing leisure facilities and reducing staff numbers is not a decision we take lightly. It is with great regret that we have come to this point, but we believe it is the only option available to us.
"As a charitable social enterprise, we are not in a position to continue operating a facility that requires capital investment and is losing money, while accruing significant rent liabilities."
