PROFESSIONAL golfer Daniel Bowling has been arrested for attempting to meet up with a person posing as a 15-year-old girl.
Bowling, 26, had been sexting a detective posing as the teenager since April, say police.
The conversations "turned sexual in nature within the first 24 hours and intensified quickly", Florida police said.
They said that the "dangerous online predator" was arrested in Orlando on Thursday after he arranged to meet up with what he believed was a 15-year-old.
People reported that the sportsman faces several charges, including obscene communication, travelling to meet with a minor and attempted lewd and lascivious molestation.
“Unfortunately, there are potentially hundreds of predators like Mr. Bowling online,” Jennifer Wing of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force reportedly said.
“I hope news of today’s arrest encourages parents to be more proactive in monitoring their children’s lives online.”

According to Yahoo Sports, Bowling has not competed professionally since 2016.
But his Instagram is littered with snaps of him on the green, and his bio reads: "Pro golfer travelling PGA Tour events one Monday at a time".
Last week he shared a video of him out on the links with a caption: "Down in North Carolina for the Wells Fargo Monday qualifying. Been putting in the work last few weeks with my guys."
