A MUM of three who loves being pregnant and even enjoys giving birth has had five babies for strangers.

Didi Perry, 50, spent eight years as a serial surrogate, helping other women who struggled to conceive.

She says she actually “enjoyed giving birth” to her own kids and wanted to help those who couldn’t become mothers as easily.

At the age of 41, Didi had her first surrogate child 16 years after the delivery of her own youngest.

She enjoyed the process so much, she went on to have two babies each for another two couples.

“It’s difficult to come up with the words to describe how I felt when I saw the intended parents holding their baby.

"It was momentous, incredible.

“At first I was only planning on carrying for one family, but after experiencing the pure joy, I knew it was something I’d do again."

The serial surrogate, who lives in Dallas, Texas, gave birth to the last baby five months before her 50th birthday - when she decided it was time for her journey to come to an end.

For Didi, it was never about the money - and she says she charged a low fee for carrying.

“I wasn’t trying to become rich from it. It was important that I made a difference in their lives.

“As long as no money had to come out of my pocket, I didn’t mind.

“One of the intended parents asked me if I could lower the fee and I said, ‘certainly’.”

Didi, who now works as a surrogacy co-ordinator, says: “I enjoyed being pregnant with my own kids and I wanted to do something that would help someone else.

“I love how healthy I feel when I’m pregnant and I love the feeling of the baby moving around."

While Didi has retired from having babies for other women, she says she enjoys matching hopeful parents with surrogates at Surrogate Solutions, the agency she now works for.

She says she enjoys it "almost" as much as being pregnant herself.

Didi said: “I absolutely love it. I’m not the one having the babies anymore, but I’m still involved in helping to form families.

“I feel like surrogacy was put in my life for a reason. Now I’m essentially helping people leave a legacy.”

And it seems as her enthusiasm for surrogacy is infectious.

Didi's youngest daughter, Shayna, 23, is now looking into becoming a surrogate.

The proud mother said: “It’s really wonderful that I was able to inspire her to do this too.”
