CADBURY'S has launched a real-life Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-style challenge – causing a scramble across the country for rare white chocolate eggs.

But how can you find one, and how many white chocolate eggs have been hidden?

How long are Cadbury's Creme Eggs on sale?

You’ll have to be quick to find the white chocolate treats as many have already gone on sale.

The eggs have been hidden in local newsagents, Sainsbury's Local, Tesco Express and Co-op and will be around until Easter Sunday on April 1.

Egg lovers will have to hunt out the white eggs as they will be camouflaged in the same packaging as a classic one.

The eggs are the same as the original version with a gooey fondant yolk centre, except the shell is made out of white chocolate.

Are there any tricks to getting a Cadbury's white Creme Egg?

Clever egg-hunters have found a way to check if your Creme Egg is going to be white chocolate or not without even opening it.

While regular eggs just list milk chocolate as an ingredient, the special and limited edition eggs say "white".

Cadbury is also launching a special "Creme Egg Camp" to celebrate the return of the much-loved chocolate.

And they have promised the Sun Online that there will be white eggs hidden around the venue, but they wouldn't tell us how many - or where they will be hidden.

The camp, which will be based in Old St, London, is open now Thursday to Sunday for five weeks, after opening its doors on January 19.

How many white Creme Eggs are there?

There are believed to be around 371 limited-edition white eggs in these shops. We've asked Cadbury's to confirm these numbers.

If you're lucky enough to find a white egg then you could be in line to win up to £2,000.

They could be hidden inside single wrapped eggs, which cost around 58p, or in five packs which cost £2.85.

Supermarket staff have been accused of unwrapping Cadbury Creme Eggs before putting them on the shelves as people hunt for a white version.
